GOOOOOOOD Moring,
I want to kick off this post my sending a big thank you to Yayoi who covering for me on Saturday. I had a work thing come up that prevented me from making it out. I know the weather wasn’t great that day so I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for her stepping up.
We also got our first exposure to running in the rain. This feels like a good time to let everyone know why we run in the rain. Here's the idea, races almost never cancelled due to rain so we train for every possible situation comes up including bad weather and second approach is the mental toughness perspective. We get into the mindset that we will be running not matter what and having that mind set from the beginning is what makes a successful runner.
We are in taper week this week so we will see the distances for this weekend will be a little less to give out bodies opportunities to recover before we start the last build up in mileage before the race. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Holiday Schedule- Moving our run to Sunday 12/26 and 1/2
As I mentioned last week, given Christmas and New Years falls on a Saturdays so we will be moving the run to Sunday 2/26/2018 at 7:15am and Sunday 1/2/21 at 7:15am.
This Week’s Training
This is week 8 and is a RECOVERY WEEK and perfect timing with the Holidays approaching and many office parties and eggnog to consume. :) What’s it mean again? The recovery week is a relaxed week of training in overall intensity for the long run, as you can see from the schedule. It gives you a chance to rest a bit and reduce stresses on your body and mind. It will provide a good base to “get back on it” next week. You should still get “out and about” the same, but cut back on intensity and overall mileage.
Specific training notes are:
- Run/Walkers – No Change this week. Saturday’s LR is DOWN to 80 min.
- Intermediate Runners – All runs EZ in nature, REGARDLESS how good you feel. Saturday’s LR is DOWN to 8.5 mi, easy.
- PR Chasers – All runs EZ in nature, REGARDLESS how good you feel. Saturday’s LR is DOWN to 8.5 mi, easy.
